Story of Chip and Dough

Small Batch Bakery
WOMAN-OWNED, VETERAN FOUNDED

Chip & Dough is a small-batch cottage bakery founded by husband-and-wife team Meredith and John Howell—a woman-owned, veteran-founded business built on quality, care, and connection.
Meredith’s background in family and community-focused work, paired with John’s experience as a veteran with an engineering mindset, shapes the heart of the business, balancing warmth with precision in every batch.
Inspired by Meredith’s childhood memories of visiting a neighborhood bakery with her grandmother, Chip & Dough was created to bring back that simple sense of comfort
and joy.
Today, each cookie is baked in small batches with intention—made to feel familiar, thoughtful, and worth sharing.

Our Grandma's Kitchen

ROOTED IN FAMILY

I’m Meredith Howell, and my dream of owning a bakery started long before I knew what it would take to build one.
As a little girl, I spent my happiest days with my grandmother. We would walk across the street to Bea’s Bakery, and without fail, I would choose the sprinkle cookie.
It was never just a cookie.
It was love. Comfort. Connection.
Years passed, and life took me in a different direction, but that feeling never left me.
Chip & Dough is my way back to it. A place where cookies are more than treats, they’re memories, made fresh every day.
